Abstract
1,235,947. Spinning processes. MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER A.G. 26 March, 1969 [27 March, 1968], No. 15734/69. Heading D1F. In a mixing process, a pressurised air stream supplying entrained fibres of different origin is divided into secondary streams and flocks separated and deposited therefrom are compressed by air into individual flock columns each consisting of superimposed part flock columns of different flock origin. The uniformly descending columns are joined into superimposed fibre layers, forming an angle of not more than 90 with respect to the direction of column descent, which are continuously conveyed, laterally compressed, separated into flocks and reentrained in an air stream. In the apparatus shown, impact flocks, produced by a plucking roller successively engaging with circulating bales a - f of fibres and sucked away and blown by a fan 39 into a duct 8, are distributed by means of adjustably mounted deflecting heads 8' into chutes 1-6 of different heights from which air under pressure exhausts through perforated walls (29, 30) and side ducts (33, 34 and 35, 36). Thus, in each chute is assembled a compressed column formed by superposed part columns of fibres from different bales. On emerging from the chutes the columns form superposed layers which are removed and compressed by belts 18 and 20, seized and compressed by pairs of rollers 22, 23, opened by take-off rolls 24, 25, to form flocks of mixed fibres in a chamber 26 whence they are removed through duct 28 in an air stream supplied through intake 27. The chutes may be divided into groups separately fed from corresponding plucking machines through separate air ducts, Fig. 4 (not shown) and/or the chutes may be the same height with the conveyor belts (47, 46), corresponding to belts 18, 20, moving the layers in a direction at an angle of more than 90 e.g. 120, to the direction of fibre descent in the chutes, Fig. 3 (not shown).
