Abstract

1,235,737. Metallurgical converters. DEMAG A.G. 14 Nov., 1968 [7 Dec., 1967], No. 54155/68. Heading F4B. In a metallurgical converter 1 having a bearing ring 4 surrounding and spaced from the converter 1, support brackets 2, 3 are secured to the vessel for abutment with the bearing ring, with extensible straps 8, 9 extending between anchor points respectively disposed within the bearing ring 11c and on the support brackets 11a, 11b. Straps 12, which are similar, and are provided in addition, to straps 8 and 9, are secured by pivot pins X at anchor points 11d and lie to further brackets 13 provided on the vessel wall 1 and to projections 14 provided on the bearing ring 4, the straps 12 extending parallel to the surface 4a of the bearing ring. The securing elements by which all of the straps are connected to the anchor points incorporate means for pre-stressing the straps.
