Abstract

1,235,719. Spring clips. Y. DIDRY. 10 Oct.. 1968 [26 Oct., 1967], No. 48077/68. Heading E2B. A clip formed from a trapezoidal strip of resilient material has a central part 1 in the form of an isoceles trapezium having its parallel sides constituted by the strip long edges and equiareal end parts 2, 3, each having an acute angled apex 4, the plane of each end part being inclined at a similar angle to the plane of the central part. As shown the clip is used to connect an angle having a web 9 and a flange 10 at right angles to the web, to a box section having a web 6 two flanges 5, 7 at right angles to the web and a lip 8 at right angles to the flange 7; the angle is disposed with its corner in the corner between the web 6 and flange 5 and the clip is disposed so that the apex 4 of each end part is in the corner between the lip 8 and flange 7 and with the short side b c of the central part of the clip in the corner between the flange 10 and web 9. During the insertion of the clip the parts 2, 3 are spread further apart so that the clip is stressed. It is stated that to reduce the risk of buckling the two end parts and the central part of the clip can be from a slight outward convexity.
