Abstract

1,235,436. Spindle brake. MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER A.G. 13 June, 1969 [14 June, 1968], No. 30108/69. Heading D1D. [Also in Division F2]. Twisting spindles are braked by reducing the tape drive by injecting an air layer between the tape and the whorl and simultaneously applying a friction brake to the spindle. Compressed air is directed under the on-coming drive tape by nozzle 11', Fig. 7, and simultaneously an electromagnet 22, Fig. 11, applies a shoe 21 to the spindle, or pneumatic means 26, Fig. 10, can apply shoes 25.
