Abstract

1393752 Spindle brake MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER AG 13 Sept 1972 [13 Sept 1971] 42440/72 Heading DID [Also in Division F2] A spindle brake comprises a U-form clamp 11 fixed to a spindle rail and carrying brake shoes 10 which can be pressed onto the spindle by tightening the U-form clamp using flexible member 18. There is an elastic intermediate member between the brake shoes 10 and the clamp support 15 so that when the brake is applied the brake surface, and the brake shoes, 10 can move radially. The spindle which is flexibly mounted is thereby free to move radially during braking. The elastic member can be the clamp itself or springs or a spring plate forming part of the support.
