Abstract

1,235,288. Advancing mine roof supports. GULLICK DOBSON Ltd. 11 Oct., 1968 [1 Nov., 1967], No. 49556/67. Heading E1P. Misalignment and the tendency of an advancing mine roof support to move downhill in an inclined seam is prevented by a jack 15 acting in association with a strut 28 adapted to bear on a rail R fixed to a conveyor C. The jack 15 is slidably mounted on the rail by a clevis 10 and is pivoted to a locking lever 12 in turn pivoted to a like sliding clevis 11 having an abutment 18. The above arrangement is such that when the jack 15 is extended its piston rod 14 is held stationary by a dog or tooth 17 on the lever 12 so that the cylinder of the jack and the associated clevis 10 move up hill. When the support is advanced the strut 28 bears on the rail 12 to act as a fulcrum about which the support pivots during contraction of its ram 27.
