Abstract

1,235,282. Gloves. JAMES NORTH & SONS Ltd. 7 Aug., 1968 [18 May, 1967], No. 23143/67. Heading A3V. In the manufacture of a glove, particularly for industrial use, whose outer surface consists of an uncured polymeric material, there is applied to this surface a dry particulate high molecular weight polymer such that upon subsequent curing the glove receives a permanent non-slip abrasion resistant surface. A liner of interlock cotton is first placed upon a former and is fired to remove surplus fibres. The liner whilst still on the former, is then dipped in polyvinyl chloride paste and the coated liner is subsequently dipped into a fluidised bed of a particulate high molecular weight homopolymer of polyvinyl chloride with a pigment, a plasticiser and a small amount of hydrophilic silica. Alternatively the particulate material may be applied by spraying. After vibrating the glove to remove excess particles, it is cured in an oven.
