Abstract

1,235,152. Making waste fittings. TREVELYANS (BIRMINGHAM) Ltd. 12 Feb., 1969 [16 Feb., 1968], No. 7753/68. Heading B3A. [Also in Division A4] A waste fitting comprising a threaded shank 15 with an outwardly directed flange 12 at its upper end and a grille 19 extending across it at or near the upper end is made by a method in which the shank is formed from relatively thin metal and the screw threading is produced by deformation of the material. The deformation may be produced by rolling the shank on a mandrel or against the inside of a die or by pressure fluid in a die. The preferred thickness of the material is between 0À018 inch and 0À024 inch. 18/8 Stainless steel is the preferred material but copper, aluminium or brass may also be used. The grille 19 forms part of a coverplate 11 which rests on a supporting flange 12 which may or may not be integral with the shank.
