Abstract
1,234,593. Tripod stands. T. GREENE. 23 Oct., 1969 [20 Sept., 1968; 22 Oct., 1968], Nos. 44726/68 and 50021/68. Heading A4H. A tripod stand comprises three legs 11, 12, 13 connected at their upper ends by a leaf spring 14 which urges the legs into an open position, and a cord 18 connected to the three legs and limiting opening of the legs. The legs 11, 12 carry upper and lower frictionally slideable support pegs 22, 23 and 24, 25 provided with downwardly and upwardly directed supporting surfaces 28<1>, 28 (see Fig. 4) for a board 32. To close the stand, the pegs 22-25 are slid upwardly and cord 18 is drawn upwardly and hooked over the pegs 23, 25 (see Fig. 2). The legs have pivoted prongs 33, 34, 35 for forcing in the ground. In a modification (Fig. 5), a strap (36) on the cord is engaged over a peg (40A) on the spring; and the stand mounts a flexible backing sheet (38) having at its top edge a rigid strip (39) provided with a belt (40) for engaging over the peg (40A) and at its lower edge a double-sided leaf spring (45, 46) and a rigid strip (42) for frictionally gripping the front legs and a ledge (41) for sheet music. The sheet (38) can be wrapped around the closed legs and fastened by belt (40) engaging a stud (47) (see Fig. 7). The cord, strap and belt may be elastic. The legs may be telescopic.
