Abstract

Body attachments, inflatable and buoyant.-A buoyant garment for swimming, bathing, lifesaving, or like purposes is provided on the breast or back, or both, with a pad formed by a pouch containing flower or other seeds of an impervious or buoyant nature. The pouch may be made of impervious or waterproof material, so that the buoyancy can be assisted by inflation. Fig. 1 shows a swimming costume which is provided both on the breast and back with a shield-shaped pouch B adapted to contain the seeds and also to be inflated through the pipe D. Fig. 3 shows a modified garment with the legs and back portion omitted and adapted for life-saving purposes; this form has a single breast-pad B, and is secured on the person by shoulder-straps G and a girdle or waist-straps F. Strips or layers of cork &c. may be affixed externally to the pads to increase the buoyancy.
