A polymer of a C 4-8 diolefin hydrocarbon containing molecules having a molecular weight above 1000, having two terminal reactive halogen containing groups is mixed with a polyhydric phenol and a base and cured at a temperature above 150‹. The polymer is preferably that of Specification 1,140,764. The phenol may be a novolac resin and suitable bases are calcium oxide, calcium hydroxide, magnesium oxide and amines. The polymer is preferably liquid. The compositions may also contain fillers.
