Abstract

1,233,029. Crimping yarns. TECHNISERVICE CORP. 24 Sept, 1968 [29 Sept., 1967], ,No. 45363/68. Heading D1F. In a stuffer-crimper wherein crimped textile strand accumulates temporarily and is automatically controlled to fill only part of the stuffing chamber before being withdrawn therefrom, a particulate bed, comprising solid spherules through which the strand is withdrawn, is fixedly supported above the chamber. The bed is heated by injected steam under controllable pressure. As shown, a strand 10 passes through a preheater 12, feed rolls 13, 13', into stuffing chamber 14 whence it is withdrawn by rollers 16, 16', through the nip of tensioning rolls 40, 40', and a mass of ceramic spherules which are supported by a conical wall 51 and surrounded by.a jacket 15 for steam, supplied through pipes 53, 53'.
