Abstract

1,232,995. Mobile scaffolding. BIERRUM & PARTNERS Ltd. 25 July, 1968 [4 Aug., 1967], No. 35908/67. Heading E1S. Working platforms, e.g. 28, are supported by scaffolding carried by joists 24 which can slide up and down in slideways 22 fixed to the previously cast portion of the building structure, e.g., a cooling tower. A slideway may comprise a pair of opposed channel-sectioned members fastened to the structure by brackets 23, upon which the joists 24 are also temporarily supported, via pins, when the platforms are being used. The joists 24 carry rollers, e.g. (32), (Fig. 2, not shown) to facilitate their vertical movement, and also safety devices, each comprising a pair of spring- loaded pawls (40), (Fig. 4, not shown) which engage steel blocks 38 fixed to the slideways.
