Abstract
1,231,492. Releasable fastenings. TELEF U N K E N PATENTVERWERTUNGSG.m.b.H. 10 June, 1968 [10 June, 1967; 6 July, 1967; 25 Aug., 1967; 9 Dec., 1967], No. 27438/ 68. Heading E2A. [Also in Divisions G2, H1 and H3] In a tuning control including a plurality of preset controls 4, each control 4 has a switch such as 30 operable by depressing a respective flap 47, when in a closed position consealing a manually operable part 5 of the control, to a further position which also serves to release the previously operated flap and de-activate its respective control 4, and each flap 47 can be pivoted to an open portion to expose the manually operable parts 5 of its respective pre-set control 4. The tuning control may be for television or radio receivers. When the key switch flap 47 is hinged outwardly access is obtained to end 5 of control 4. Rotation of end 5 adjusts the position of cam 14 to corresponding waveband positions so that when the key flap 47 is returned as shown (Fig. 1) and pressed the cam rocks rocker 16 to adjust a wave band switch. Adjustment of the end 5 alters the position of an indicating slide 8 via projections 6 and notches 7 (Fig. 2) to predetermined positions determined by a spring part 59, 60. The slide 8 has pointers 46 which cooperates with annular seales marked on a disc 45 so that by outwardly hinging the key flap 47 the tuning seals can be seen via a window 44. When the key 47 is pressed the control 4 is retained by a tooth 21 which engages a rim 19. The movement of the control 4 is coupled, via 17 to close a switch contact 30 on a contact ring 26 so as to connect a potential from a potentiometer 27, 28 to a variable capacity diode in a tuner 16a. The coupling 17 also allows a gear wheel 32 to be biased by spring 36 into engagement with worm wheel or threaded spindle 37. The voltage applied to and hence the tuning of the variable capacity diode is adjusted by rotation of the gear wheel 32 via gearing 37, 39 by rotation of spindle 38 and knob 40. This adjusts the position of the spring slide 27 on the resistive track 28 and the scale 10. The housing 1, partition 3 and stud 23 may be of plastics. Illumination. A light channel 55 is provided for light 56 and each key flap 47 has an associated aperture 57 through which light is visible only when a flap 47 has been pressed. Alternatively projections (62 Figs. 3 and 4, not shown), may be provided for passing light from the source 56 into the end 5. The end 5 which is then made of light permeable material (63),. A further modified light guide (66, Figs. 5 and 6 not shown) is described.
