Abstract

1,230,555. Stud and socket fastenings. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG A.G. 17 Jan., 1969, No. 2830/69. Heading E2B. A loading gear for freight containers comprises a lifting frame 1 having headed rotary studs 5 for insertion into corresponding sockets of fittings of a said container wherein the studs are supported in the lifting frame so that they can be axially displaced to a limited extent against resilient means 7 and are each provided with a supporting part 6 having lugs 9 or recesses and the lifting frame having corresponding recesses or lugs respectively, the lugs and recesses being angularly displaced with respect to each other in the unloaded condition so that on rotation of the studs the corresponding lugs and recesses are aligned and on loading become engaged. In the construction shown the lugs are in the form of pins carried by the supporting part 6 and these are adjustable axially by means of screws 10 to control the axial displacement of the studs 5. The recesses 11 engaged by the pins 9 are provided in a plate 8 of the lifting frame. The resilient means is a spring, trapped between a shoulder of a bush 3 in which the stud 5 is supported and the supporting part 6. In an alternative construction the recesses are provided in the part 6 and the lugs are bolts mounted on the supporting frame so that they are axially adjustable to vary the axial displacement of the studs 5.
