Abstract

1,230,307. I.C. engine valve gear. DAIMLERBENZ A. G. July 18, 1969 [July 20, 1968], No.36363/69. Heading F1B . In an I. C. engine valve control system a valve 4 is opened and closed through a two-armed rocker by a valve-opening cam 2 and a valve-closing cam 3 operatively engaging respective arms of the rocker and located side by side on an overhead camshaft, the end of the valve stem being held in the rocker without play in the direction of the valve axis only. The valve 4, has a spherical head 10 held in cups 11, 12 which slide in the rocker recess 9. A common mounting block (23), Fig.3 (not shown) may be used for a pair of rockers. The valve stem may have a detachable ball head (19), Fig.2 (not shown). Lubricant is supplied through passages 17, 30, 31.
