Abstract
1,230,077. Laminates. DUNLOP CO. Ltd. 14 June, 1968 [17 June, 1967], No. 28028/67. Heading B5N. [Also in Divisions B6 and E1- E2] A roofing element, is weatherproofed by a covering consisting of a membrane of an unvulcanized polychloroprene composition which is capable of vulcanizing without the application of heat or pressure other than normal atmospheric conditions. A composition comprising, in parts by weight, neoprene W 100, magnesia 8, stearic acid 2, polyethylene 10, factice 5, microcrystalline wax 5, clay 85, phenyl beta naphthylamine 2, red iron oxide 3, converted into a flat web, is adhered with a 2 inch overlap and without bonding for a distance of 2 inches from the edges of an element of rigid polyurethane sandwiched between plies of building paper to form a non-loadbearing roofing element. A loadbearing roofing element is formed by applying the sheet composition to exterior grade plywood. The adhesive layer in each case may be continuous or may be interrupted to allow for differential expansion and migration of water vapour.
