Abstract

1,229,563. Folding and cutting apparatus. POLYGRAPH LEIPZIG - KOMBINAT FUR POLYGRAPHISCHE MASCHINEN UND AUSRUSTUNGEN Veb. 25 Sept., 1969, No. 47235/69. Heading B8R. The product carrying cylinders 4 and 5 of a folding apparatus are provided with reflective areas 8 which are detected by reflection sensors 9 in the absence of a product 6 between the areas 8 and the sensors, such detection causing stoppage of the apparatus driving motor, disengagement of a safety coupling 12 and a severing of the web 2, being fed in, by guillotine 13. The web 2 is normally longitudinally folded by plate 1 cut to product lengths by cutting cylinder 3 and folded into folding cylinder 5, being subsequently delivered by rotary collector 7 on to a conveyer. Areas 8 are so positioned that if there are no jams in the machine the paper should always prevent their detection by sensors 9.
