Abstract

1,228,008. Extrusion die heads. STAMICARBON N.V. 6 June, 1968 [6 June, 1967], No. 27043/68. Heading B5A. An extrusion die head for the production of plastics tubes comprises a mandrel 1 and a die ring 2 radially movable to modify annular orifice 3 by adjustment of two stops 12, only one shown, against which the ring is urged by one or more resilient members, e.g. compression springs 13. Die ring 2 is free to slide radially within a fixed block 6, and as shown, is moved by rotation of one or both stops 12 whose axial movement is translated into a radial movement by the co-operation between a conical portion of each stop and a ball 14. Also, as shown, at each location of a stop 12 or spring 13 two bores in block 6 are provided, one being axial and the other radial. A stop 12 may therefore be replaced by a spring 13 and vice versa. Stops 12, when screw-threadedly engaged with block 6, may be rotated by the insertion of a tool in socket 15. Alternatively adjustment of stops 12 may be effected hydraulically.
