Abstract
1,228,006. Heat exchangers. TAKUMA KIKAN SEIZO K.K. 30 May, 1968, No. 26022/68. Heading F4S. A fluid passageway in a heat exchange element is bounded by a wall 6 around which is disposed a heat insulating layer 8 of a material such as sand, asbestos or air, or comprising an evacuated space; whereby as a hot gas from an oil burner or an incinerator flows over that section of the element having said layer, a high temperature gradient is maintained across the wall which prevents the hot side of the wall from being cooled by the heat exchange medium flowing through the element, to a temperature below that of the dewpoint of the gas; thus inhibiting corrosion. An apparatus is described (Fig. 1) wherein the elements comprise tubes a plurality of which are inclined across a hot gas duct (5), the tubes (3) extending between header tubes (2, 4) connected to a water reservoir (1) so that the water is heated as it circulates by convection through the tubes.
