Abstract

A fluid fuel fired heat exchanger for heating a fluid, such as water or a gas, comprises a plurality of heat exchange tubes 12 each having a double walled structure over at least part of their length which defines an annular space 33 separating the heating fluid namely combustion gases from the fluid to be heated. The provision of an annular insulating space 33 prevents the temperature of the combustion gases falling below their dew point and thereby reduces condensation and corrosion. <IMAGE>
