[Also in Divisions E1 and E2] A cable C is anchored in a hole A bored in the ground by means of a piston like anchorage member D attached to the end thereof and a granular material e.g. sand filling the hole. The sand is compacted by vibrating the members C and D, or by fluidizing the granular material using water injected through a pipe E which may be formed down the centre of the cable or attached thereto. Several different forms of anchorage member are disclosed. The sand may also be compacted by successively loading and unloading the cable. The anchorage member may be removed by fluidizing the granular material. After formation of the anchorage grout may be injected through the pipe at low pressure to penetrate the pores of the sand without causing fluidization.
