Abstract

1,227,856. Fluid-pressure operated electric switches. AMERICAN AIR FILTER CO. Inc. 25 March, 1968 [28 April, 1967], No. 14329/68. Heading H1N. A switch for controlling an electric circuit by fluid pressure comprises a carrier 2 fixed to a diaphragm 4 of a pressure-responsive chamber 6 connected to, e.g., a fluctuating gas pressure source in a metallurigical furnace, and provided with contacts 7, 8 co-operable with copper leafspring contacts 9, 11, contacts 9, 11 being mounted on one leg of a U-shaped carriage 12 longitudinally adjustable relative to carrier 2 to set the range, and contact 9 being adjustable relative to contact 11 to set the differential. Carriage 12 is moved longitudinally on rotation of a rod 16 mounted in a U-shaped bracket 18 having a threaded portion 27 coacting with an internally threaded aperture 14 in carriage 12. Carriage 12 is guided by posts 21 received in apertures 13 therein and mounted on bracket 18. Contact 9 is adjusted by a screw 32 in the other leg of the U-shaped carriage 12.
