Abstract

[Also in Division G4] An adjustable chain anchor structure for link chains comprises a hollow casing 34 having recesses 78 in one end wall, the recesses including a cross shaped opening 76 for permitting passage therethrough of a chain 30 the opening being shaped so as to restrain the chain from longitudinal movement at any predetermined link. The recesses 78 are shaped to accommodate a chain link lying in either recess. The chain is anchored at one end in a lock casing 10 and projects through slots in opposite end walls of the casing 34, the wall 74 having the opening 76. The casing 10 is secured to a door and houses a slidable bolt which is projected by a thumb turn 20 on one side of the door and is released by a lock cylinder 24 on the other side of the door. The casing 34 pivots on a striker plate 32 mounted on a door frame. The casing has a recess to receive the bolt and for a contact switch 62. In the event of an attempt to force the lock the bolt forces the casing 34 to proob against the action of springs 58 on screws retaining the casing to the striker plate and closes the switch to sound an alarm. If the door, with the bolt withdrawn, is forced open, dragging the chain, the casing 34 again pivots and the alarm sounds.
