Stropping - apparatus. - In a safety razor, the clip f for the blade is mounted on a spindle c geared to a spindle or roller d above a spindle e, the three spindles being carried in bearings in arms a<1>, a<2> at the ends of a plate a on a handle b, which may be fixed or detachable. A comb-like guard h has ear-pieces h<1>, through which passes the spindle c, a coiled spring on this spindle serving, when the blade is placed in engagement with hooks h<4>, to maintain the parts in position, for shaving. For stropping, however, the blade is released from the hooks and a strop k is passed between the parts d, h; on then moving the razor to and fro on the strop, the blade is turned over from one side to the other and becomes sharpened on both sides of its edges. The guard has a central tongue, which may be acted on by the thumb-nail in order to free the blade from the teeth h<4>.
