Abstract
1,227,373. Holography. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. June 16, 1969 [July 5, 1968], No. 32336/68. Heading G2J. A three-dimensional image of an object is produced from a series of transparencies corresponding to selected sectional representations through the object by forming a hologram of each transparency 7, 8, 9 in turn on a common photo-sensitive sheet 10, the transparencies being located during the formation of the holograms in the relative positions or orientations corresponding to said sectional representations, a common reference beam 13 being used to produce each hologram, and the developed sheet 10 is illuminated with a reference beam 13 to reconstruct the series of transparencies 7<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>1</SP>, 9<SP>1</SP> simultaneously. The photosensitive sheet 10 may be parallel to the transparencies or angled thereto. Further each transparency may not be parallel to each other transparency and in fact at least some of the series of sectional representations may be caused to intersect. Also holograms of at least two series of transparencies may be formed on the sheet 10, each series being differently oriented and having a different reference beam. The two series 77-79, 77<SP>1</SP>-79<SP>1</SP> Fig. 7a may be at right angles and using two reference beams 11, 11<SP>1</SP> holograms may be formed on photo-sensitive sheets 710/1-710/4 forming adjacent sides of a polygon. Sheets 710/3-710/4 are holograms of series 77-79, and sheets 710/1-710/2 of series 77<SP>1</SP>-79<SP>1</SP>. Each hologram is re-illuminated simultaneously.
