Abstract

1387717 Holographic lenses THOMSON-CSF 11 April 1972 [13 April 1971] 16710/72 Heading G2J A hologram lens which optically conjugates at least one first surface with a plurality of second surfaces comprises a thick hologram consisting of in superposition as many elementary holograms as there are second surfaces, each elementary hologram having a field of view defined by the Bragg effect of the thickness of the hologram and the aberration being less than a predetermined value Desirably each elementray hologram is formed on plate 4 by the interference of an effective point source C o representing a second surface, and an effective point source C 1 representing a first surface conjugate with the second surface. It is preferred that there be an equal number of first and second surfaces. So that the lens be a high resolution erode angle lens the elementary holograms represent a plurality of points in side-byside relationship covering an arbitrary area. To form the lens the hologram plate 4 is movable both about axis O and axis XOX'. The optics 220, 221 forming the respective point sources C o , C 1 are movable along cam tracks D o , D 1 ' and this movement in conjunction with the movement of hologram plate 4 enables the plurality of elementary holograms to be formed, e.g. with new point sources C o ‹, C 1 ‹.
