Grids and gratings.-A grid for filtering thick liquids, such as rubber, is built up of a number of concentric rings shaped so as to leave tapering passages between them and provided with projections serving as distance-pieces. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the rings 2 are arranged with their faces in the same plane. The inner faces of the rings are cylindrical and the outer faces are conical and carry the projections 4. The whole set of rings is placed in a casing 1 having a central boss 9 connected to the outer portion of the casing by arms against which the rings bear. In a modification, both faces of the rings are conical and the inner rings project in front of the outer. By altering the degree of projection the size of the filtering apertures can be regulated.
