Abstract

1,226,160. Doctors for papermaking machines. VICKERYS Ltd. 11 Sept., 1969 [1 Oct., 1968], No. 46588/68. Heading D2A. A doctor for a papermaking machine comprises a blade holder, a doctor blade accommodated in the holder, and adapted to bear against a roll, the blade extending lengthwise of the roll and being free to pivot with respect to the holder about its rear end or about a lengthwise axis spaced forwardly from its rear end, and a series of spaced members which are individually adjustable, without distortion of the holder, to vary the doctoring pressure at different zones along its length. The members bear directly against the rear end of the blade, directly against the rear end of a pressure plate mounted in the blade holder for pivotal movement about a line of contact, with the blade holder, spaced forwardly from its rear end, and applying pressure at its front end to the blade, or against a deformable bar extending longitudinally of the holder, which bar bears against either the blade or the pressure plate. As shown, the members may be screws 14 which have heads 15 bearing against the rear end of pressure plate 11, which applies pressure to blade 10 acting on roll surface 18.
