Nov. 12 1947 [Class 46] A scraper assembly for removing a substance deposited upon a revolving cylinder includes a scraper blade pivotally mounted on a support about an axis parallel to the cylinder, and leaf spring means for urging the blade in a direction to bear against the cylinder, the leaf spring means comprising one or more leaf springs fixed at one end to the scraper blade and resting with their other end or ends on one or more adjustable blocks interposed between the support and the springs. In the construction shown, a scraper blade 34 is resiliently pressed against the surface of a rotary filter 12, by means of leaf springs 40 carried by the blade. Clips 36 and bent-up portions 38 of the blade are provided for securing the blade detachably to a scraper plate 32. The plate is removably attached by hinges 30, 31 to a support 26 mounted on a base 18 and carrying U-shaped slotted mountings 46. The mountings support threaded adjusting bolts 48 each carrying a nut 50, a lock-nut 52 and an adjusting block 56 slidable on the support 26. The block bears against the lower end of a leaf spring 40, and rotation of the bolt 48 varies the tension of the spring and hence varies the pressure of the scraper against the filter 12. The adjusting bolt may be detached from the slotted mounting 48.
