1,225,510. Dispensing liquids under gaseous pressure. COLGATE-PALMOLIVE CO. Nov. 22, 1968 [Nov.24, 1967], No.55478/68. Heading F1R. A device for mounting on a pressurized dispensing container for mixing an additive with the contents of the dispensing container as they are discharged, comprises an operable container 18 for the additive having a recess 28 for receiving the dispensing container valve stem 14, and an actuating button 50 with a discharge orifice 58. The additive may be scent, essence, colouring, medication or a chemical, e. g. a reducible material, which reacts exothermically with a chemical in the dispensing container contents, e.g. a hydride, to produce heating of the discharged contents, e.g. shaving cream. The container 18 comprises sections 20, 22 screwed together. A flange 42 surrounding container inlet 34 prevents the liquid additive 44 from entering inlet 34. In Fig. 4 (not shown), flange 42 is omitted, and the liquid additive is contained in a body of absorbent material disposed in the container 18. Button 50 has a snap-fit cover member 60 for orifice 58. Examples of self-heating shaving cream compositions are described.
