Abstract

1,225,391. Valves. WHESSOE Ltd. 11 July, 1969 [20 Aug., 1968], No. 39703/68. Heading F2V. A vent valve for a vessel, such as a rail tanker wagon, has a pallet 7 co-operating with a valve seat 5 and secured to a piston 4, a spring 9 biasing the piston and thereby the pallet on to the valve seat, and means 1 attached to the piston to enable the valve to be opened against the spring and any pressure loading from the vessel contents. The means 1 may be a Bowden cable connected to an operating lever for a discharge valve at the base of the vessel. When the vessel forms part of a rail tanker wagon, the operating lever is connected to hand levers at opposite sides of the wagon.
