Abstract

The valve system is partic. used to effect the discharge of an overland petrol tanker, utilising cable (67) linked plunger action air (3) and discharge valves in the tanker roof and floor respectively. The air valve places the sealed container in communication with the atmosphere in preparation for discharge, its linear movement being inverted and transmitted to the discharge valve. A compressed air feed (41) may provide a ram effect actuating (75) the air valve. The plunger action is used to depress the top end (47) of the cable sheath (66) while the top cable anchorage (68) remains static. The bottom end (59) of the cable sheath remains fixed with the bottom cable end anchored to the discharge valve plunger (55).
