Abstract

1436282 Lubricating DE LIMON FLUHME & CO 3 May 1974 19641/74 Heading F2A A lubrication apparatus in a locomotive having a flanged wheel 2 comprises a lubricant spray nozzle 9 facing the inner side 4 of the flange 3, and means 10 extending between the nozzle 9 and the wheel to define a substantially enclosed draught-free space 6 between the nozzle 9 and the flange 3. The embodiment shows the enclosing means in the form of a tubular extension 10, with a flange 11 clamped behind the nozzle 9; it may be of an elastic and wear-resistant material impervious to lubricant, for example, rubber. Fig. 1 (not shown) illustrates a complete apparatus including a compressed air line 19, a magnetic valve 20 operated by a timer (not shown), and a pressurized container 13 partially filled with semi-fluid grease 14.
