Abstract

1,225,211. Wet separating. CARPCO RESEARCH & ENG. Inc. 16 April, 1969 [25 Nov., 1968], No. 19471/69. Heading B2H. A trough concentrator is provided with lateral guides 26 which initially converge the flow of slurry to stratify the particulate material, and then diverge the flow to spread the strata, the lower stratum then being removed through a slot 42. The process may be repeated in further sections 14, 15. The guides are secured to the side walls by nuts 25 and bolts 19 and can be adjusted in the direction of flow. Slurry is supplied from spaced outlets (62) (Fig. 4, not shown) in a hopper 50, and smooth flow is induced by passage through a horizontal slit in a baffle 63. The slot 42 may be formed in a removable plate (Fig. 5, not shown). The internal surfaces of the concentrator may be of plastics material.
