Abstract
1,222,337. Continuous casting. SOC. FIVES LILLE-CAIL. 27 Jan., 1969, No. 4464/69. Heading B3F. A multiple continuous casting installation has a number of casting lines arranged side by side, each comprising a vertical, curved or inclined mould 14 and a three-sectioned jacket 16, 18, 20 with guide rollers leading to a withdrawing and straightening set 22, the mould and jacket being mounted on a frame 24 which can be moved on rollers 26 on rails 28, by a jack 54, away from the other frames for change, repair or service. The frames 24 are also stabilized at the top by their rollers (43) which run on girders 38 of a fixed main structure to which the frames 24 are made fast by keyed spindles 30, 32, 34 which can be withdrawn quickly by power means for quick disconnection. Servomotors for controlling stopper rods 44 in the common troughed tundish 10 are supported on a platform 36 and a mechanism 42 for reciprocating the mould 14 is supported on a platform 40. The guide jacket sections 16 and 18 include coolant distributers in a cooling chamber 50, formed by plates at the top of the frame 24, with a vapour extraction pipe and a drain 52. Flexible hoses and quickaction connections for the distributers and the mould coolant circuits facilitate disconnection of a casting line.
