Abstract

1,221,424. Graphitized carbon filaments. COURTAULDS Ltd. 18 June, 1968 [4 April, 1967], No. 15384/67. Heading C1A. Graphitized carbon filaments are produced by heating carbonized filaments in an inert atmosphere at a temperature greater than 2000‹ C. in a plasma generator. The plasma generator may be either a high frequency induction or direct current plasma torch. Continuous filaments or staple fibre may be employed in the process.
