A reticulated plastics slab for making grassed areas firm and traversable has a downwardly directed U-section frame 1 divided by U-section cross-pieces 2. The U- sections may be filled with concrete or a cart resin to give added strength. Interlocking dovetail projections 4, which have holes through which ground engaging spikes may be driven, and recesses 5 are provided. In a modification the frame is arranged below and slightly offset relative to a grid-work parallel to the side of the frame.
