Abstract

1,221,339. Rotary driers. SNIA VISCOSA SOC. NAZIONALE INDUSTRIA APPLICAZIONI VISCOSA. 19 Nov., 1968 [22 Nov., 1967], No. 54805/68. Heading F4G. A rotary drier comprises a drum 10 rotatable about axis R-R which is inclined to the axis of symmetry A-A of the drum, and having an inlet 18 and an outlet 19, and resilient cleaning blades or knives 20, 21 swingably mounted on arms 24, 25 extending radially from hub 26, the blades being rotated relatively to the drum when the drum is stopped, to discharge material from the drum through the outlet 19. The hub 26 is mounted on a shaft connected to an electric motor 30 via gear-box 27, shaft 28 and clutch 29, the motor being connectable to a mains supply by detachable cable 61. The drum is heated by heating jacket 15 and internal pipes as described in Specification 1,221,340. In Fig. 2 (not shown) there is shown means for swingably mounting the blade (42) on arm end (23). The blade (42) is mounted on plate (40) connected to hub (44) through which extends a stud (45), the ends of which engage a fixed seat (46) and a movable seat (47). The member (40) can swing around the axis of stud (45) and is spring loaded into a position in which the blade (42) engages the drum wall by spring (51).
