Abstract

1,221,038. Effervescent tablets. H. & T. KIRBY & CO. Ltd. 18 Sept., 1969, No. 45987/69. Heading A5B. Effervescent tablets are made by forming a powdered mixture of active ingredient, adipic acid or an acid salt thereof and an alkali metal bicarbonate and pressing the mixture into a tablet, the active ingredient being "chlorinefree", i.e. a compound not capable of releasing free chlorine on contact with aqueous media. Specified active ingredients are codeine, acetyl salicylic acid, paracetamol and ascorbic acid.
