Abstract

1505738 Preparation of effervescent tablets KIRBY PHARMACEUTICALS Ltd 22 Dec 1975 [26 Feb 1975] 8096/75 Headings A5B and A5E A water soluble chemical composition in an effervescent tablet form is prepared by directly pressing into tablet form a powder prepared without wetting comprising a chemical compound, an alkali metal e.g. sodium or potassium bicarbonate, an alkali metal e.g. sodium or potassium carbonate and a solid, water soluble aliphatic carboxylic acid e.g. citric, tartaric or adipic acid or an acid salt thereof. The chemical compound may be a sterilising or bactericidal chlorine-containing compound such as sodium dichloro - s - triazine trione and dichlorodimethyl hydantoin; ascorbic acid, paracetamol, codeine, acetysalicylic acid or gibberellic acid. The powder may also comprise a lubricant such as magnesium stearate or boric acid.
