[Also in Division F2] A deep fat pressure cooker comprises a cover 26 connected to a central shaft B which passes through the base of the pot 10, which shaft is moved vertically by a motor M which is connected to rotate tube F and thus rotate screw 45, which screw engages nut 46 fixed to shaft B. Cover 26 can thus be moved to three positions by motor M corresponding to (1) an upper position for removal of a mounting of foraminous basket D which is supported on shaft B, (2) a middle position when the lower part of basket B is submerged in cooking fat, and (3) when cover 26 is tightly sealed to pot 10. Fat can be drawn off at 47, passed through filter 50 and recycled to the cooker. Compressed air can be supplied to the cooker from a motor (CO) (Fig. 3, not shown). A safety latching mechanism is illustrated in Fig. 2A (not shown) which rotates rod 72 into a released position when the pressure in the pot falls below a safe pressure.
