Abstract

1,220,130. Jet-lift aircraft. VEREINIGTE FLUGTECHNISCHE WERKE - FOKKER G.m.b.H. 13 May, 1968 [11 May, 1967], No. 22641/68. Heading B7G. In an aircraft provided with a fixed jet-lift engine, the nozzle outlet is closed by a pair of flaps which when swung transversely to expose the nozzle are arranged side-by-side and partially within the airframe, thereby increasing the ground clearance. The outlet in a fuselage 1 for gases from a jet-lift engine nozzle 3 is closed by flaps 4, 5 which when closed abut in a common plane, Fig. 1, but when open lie alongside one another as shown in Fig. 3. The flap 4 is mounted by arm 12 on fixed pivot 11 and flap 5 is carried by arms 5, 8 respectively pivoted to the fuselage at 9 and 10, the arm 5 being extended by a further arm 14 connected to arm 12 by link 13, the common pivot 16 being connected to one end of a jack 17 for simultaneous movement of the flaps 4, 5. In a further embodiment (Fig. 6, not shown) the link 13 is replaced by a jack which during the door opening movement remains unextended, subsequent extension of the jack causing flap 5, which is hinged down its longitudinal centre line to fold transversely into a V-section.
