Abstract

1,210,939. Aircraft engine thrust deflection. SOC. NATIONALE D'ETUDE ET DE CONSTRUCTION DE MOTEURS D'AVIATION. 2 Feb., 1968 [6 Feb., 1967], No. 5335/68. Heading B7G. An aircraft jet engine comprises a nozzle 13 and at either side of a diametral plane XX two mobile thrust deflecting elements 22, 23 each able to pivot about its own fixed axis 5, 9 and so designed that in both the retracted (top half of Fig. 1) and operative positions, one 23 of them is partially enveloped by that part of the other 22 which constitutes its upstream portion when in the retracted position. The elements 22, 23 may be retracted to a position external of the nozzles 13 in recesses in a fairing wall which may have at 20 one or two pivotable flaps and/or a grid of deflecting vanes. The two elements 22, 23 and associated flaps at 20 where fitted, on one side of the plane XX may be driven by a single hydraulic jack 1 acting on one element 23 connected by links 6, 10 to the other element (and flap).
