Abstract

1,219,270. Deflecting propulsion jets. R. V. THOMPSON. 27 March, 1969 [28 Dec., 1967], No. 58834/67. Heading B7G. [Also in Division G4] A propulsion jet is switched from attachment to one wall of chamber 10 to the other by venting a relevant one of control ports 14, 16 to atmosphere. The ports meet chamber 10 in sub-ambient regions, e.g. 32, where the jet is detached from the wall. The jet nozzle 12 meets the divergent walls of chamber 10 without an abrupt change in section. The jet is supersonic.
