Abstract

1,219,045. Hedge cutters. METABOWERKE K.G. CLOSS, RAUCH & SCHNIZLER. 8 Oct., 1969 [2 Nov., 1968], No. 49452/69. Heading A1E. [Also in Divisions B4 and H1] A motor driven hedge trimmer, of the type with two handles, and with at least one reciprocating blade, has a double switch action, one switch associated with each handle. One handle 9 extends from the drive housing and has a switch 12. A second loop-shaped handle 10 has a switch operating member 13 which actuates switch 19 connected to the field coils of the motor. Both switches are biased to the open position so that both handles must be gripped in order to switch on the motor. Member 13 is biased away from the handle 10 by torsion spring (14), Fig. 2 (not shown). An extension 25 of member 13 operates bolt 22, which is spring loaded by spring 23, which in turn operates switch 19.
