Abstract
1,151,397. Grinding. METABOWERKE K.G. CLOSS, RAUCH & SCHNIZLER. 4 Sept., 1967 [15 Oct., 1966], No. 40302/67. Heading B3D. [Also in Divisions B5 and H1] A hand-held electric grinder or circular saw has a switch lever arm which passes through an intermediate position at which contacts 10, 11, Fig. 3, are closed, whereby the motor 3 is initially placed in series with a starting resistor 16 until the lever arm reaches the " ON " position at which a further contact 12 closes to short-circuit the resistor 16. The arrangement is adapted for use with a series motor to reduce the peak starting current. A detent may be provided for the lever arm, whereby a mechanical resistance has to be overcome, at the intermediate position, causing some delay before the full " ON " position is reached.
