Abstract

1,219,028. Gas leak detectors. ANALYTICAL INSTUMENTS Ltd. Oct. 24, 1968, No. 50500/68. Addition to 1, 214, 301. Heading G1N. A gas leak detector comprises a probe 1 having a capillary inlet 18 and an electron capture detector cell 5, through which all the gas sampled by the probe is caused to flow by a suction pump 2, the sampled gas being diluted with a gas to which the cell is not responsive, e.g. nitrogen. As shown, the probe is connected to the cell and a source of nitrogen by flexible lines 16. The nitrogen enters the sampled gas stream through a restrictor 14. The amount of air drawn in through the probe is regulated by a valve 17 which controls the degree of vacuum at 1.
