Abstract
1496887 Sampling stack gases BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 12 June 1975 [2 July 1974] 29259/74 Heading G1B A chimney stack has a substantially vertical internal sampling line 4, having an inlet and an outlet, the inlet being at a point above the outlet within the chimney, the sampling line being connected in series with a pump 7, the line having a sample take-off point upstream of the pump and being adapted to give isokinetic flue gas sampling, i.e. to be such that the velocity of particles passing down the sampling tube is equal to the velocity of similar particles passing up the stack, this condition being attained for example by adjusting the flow rates by means of a by-pass system (not shown) on the pump and using Pitot tubes to measure velocities. In the embodiment shown, the sampling line passes through a control room 3 at the bottom of the stack and the sample taken passes through filter 6 to a monitor or analyzer,
