Abstract

1,219,027. P.V.C.-asbestos compositions. UNION CARBIDE CORP. 23 Aug., 1968 [24 Aug., 1967], No. 40377/68. Heading C3P. [Also in Division C1] Transparent P.V.C. compositions contain up to 15% by wt. (based on polymer) of highpurity chrysotile asbestos having an index of refraction of 1À52-1À55; further asbestos may be added with loss of transparency. The P.V.C. may be a homopolymer or a copolymer, e.g. with vinyl acetate. Stabilizers, lubricants and plasticizers may be added. The compositions are made by mixing at 130-160‹ C.
